How to enjoy nature fully immersed?
Engage all your senses.
Remember the old school teaching us about the five senses? Sight, smell, touch, taste, and hearing. We could use all of those when we go out. Feel the roughness of the bark of the tree. Listen to everything around—a clash of waves, a songbird, a breeze, a gushing wind. How about looking at small details around—ants, insects, leaves? Bring some snacks to savor outside; just bring the light ones.
Move slowly and deliberately
Feel the ground as you sit on a bench; remove all unnecessary distractions including hefty tasks that are bothering you. You may settle the tasks first before you move slowly, so there are no problems afterwards. Float on the waves. Go barefoot if necessary. Take time to explore thoroughly rather than rushing through. Sit quietly in one spot for extended periods to notice subtle changes and wildlife that emerge when you're still. 🌊
Learn about your environment
How about journaling everything you see around you. List all of the fauna and flora you see around your house. Name the weeds, animals, plants, and even the non-living things. Someday you might become the next geologist or biologist. 😉
Connect with natural rhythms
Notice the season and weather changes, moon phases, and the time of sunrises and sunsets. Go out and see the differences. You might notice something small that helps you see the gradual progression of rhythms around.
Engage in gentle activities
You could walk around, sketch, journal, garden, have a picnic, and do anything. Just try to engage with nature. Try to crave offline moments.
